Privacy Policy

No account, no central database

VastraIQ does not require sign-up and has no login. On first launch, the app generates a random identifier that stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. There is no way for us to link your usage to your name, email, or any other personal identity, because we never collect one. Buying a plan works the same way — you never create a VastraIQ account (see Purchases and subscriptions below).

What the app processes, and why

• Clothing photos. When you add an item, its photo is sent to our AI processing partner (Google, via the Gemini API / Vertex AI) to recognize attributes (category, color, material, etc.) and generate a clean studio-style photo. The result is saved only on your device.
• Avatar photo. A full-body photo you provide is sent for the same kind of AI processing, to produce an avatar used for outfit previews. Saved only on your device.
• Outfit try-on previews. When you preview an outfit "on you," your avatar image and the outfit's item photos are sent for AI compositing. The result is saved only on your device (and only if you choose to keep or share it).
• Outfit and trip suggestions. When you ask for outfit ideas or a trip plan, the app sends text only — never photos: details of your wardrobe items (such as category, color, brand, material, pattern, style, season and occasion, with an internal item number), the vibe, occasion or notes you type, the weather, and for trips the destination and dates. This goes to our AI processing partner to return the suggestions.
• Profile details (optional). If you enter your gender, height, weight or body type in Profile, some of it is included in the text of AI requests to improve the result: gender in outfit, trip and studio-photo requests; height, weight and body type only when creating your avatar. These are stored only on your device, and leaving them blank is always fine.
• Location (optional). If you enable weather-aware suggestions, your approximate location (the coordinates are rounded) is used to fetch current weather from a free weather service (Open-Meteo) and is not stored or associated with anything else.
• Trip destination search. When you search for a destination in the Trip Planner, what you type is sent to a free geocoding service (Photon, run by Komoot, with Open-Meteo as a fallback) to find its location, and the resulting coordinates go to Open-Meteo for the forecast.

Photos are sent solely to generate the specific result you asked for. Our AI processing partner does not retain the images after the request completes. Requests reach it through a small relay we run (hosted on Railway) whose only job is to keep our AI credentials off your device: it forwards each request and does not store or log the photos or text passing through it. We do not operate any server that stores your photos — they live on your device.

Purchases and subscriptions

VastraIQ offers optional paid plans and credit top-ups through Apple's in-app purchase system.

• Apple processes the payment. We never see your card, billing details or Apple ID, and Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
• RevenueCat confirms what you bought. To unlock your plan and let you restore it on a new device, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives your purchase records and an anonymous identifier generated by its SDK, along with standard technical details that accompany a purchase request, such as your locale and currency, device and OS type, and app version. As with any network request, its servers also see your IP address. This is not linked to your name or email — we hold no account or other personal data to link it to — and it is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. RevenueCat acts as our data processor and stores this data in the United States; its own privacy policy governs how long it is kept.
• Your balance stays on your device. Your credit balance and current plan are kept in the app on your device.
• Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel it in your Apple ID's subscription settings (also reachable from Profile → Manage Subscription in the app).

What we don't do

• No analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs that phone home with personal data, no advertising SDKs. The one SDK in the app that reports to an outside service is RevenueCat's purchase SDK, described above.
• No selling, renting, or sharing your data with third parties for marketing
• No tracking across other apps or websites
• No server-side history of what you've added, worn, or generated

Your data stays under your control

Everything VastraIQ stores lives in the app's local storage on your device: wardrobe items, outfits, your avatar, wear history, and preferences — unless you turn on the optional iCloud backup described below.

• Export: you can export a complete backup as a ZIP file at any time, from Profile → Privacy & Data.
• Delete: you can clear individual categories of data, or everything, at any time from the app's Danger Zone. These deletions are immediate, local, and irreversible.
• Uninstall: removing the app deletes all of its local data from your device. If you turned on iCloud backup, that is a separate copy in your own iCloud, which stays until you delete it there.
• Optional iCloud backup: Auto Backup to iCloud is off by default. If you turn it on in Profile → Privacy & Data, the app keeps a backup of your wardrobe photos, outfits, previews, avatar and settings in your own iCloud. That copy belongs to your Apple ID and is governed by Apple's terms; VastraIQ has no access to it and no server of ours is involved.

Third-party services we use

• Google (Gemini API / Vertex AI) — processes photos to return recognition results and generated images, as described above.
• Open-Meteo — a free, no-account weather and geocoding API used only if you enable weather-aware outfit suggestions or plan a trip.
• Photon (Komoot) — a free, no-account place-search service that looks up the destination you type in the Trip Planner.
• Railway — hosts the small relay that forwards AI requests, as described above. It stores nothing.
• Apple — processes in-app purchases and, if you turn it on, hosts your optional iCloud backup.
• RevenueCat — confirms purchases and restores them on new devices, as described above, and processes that data in the United States. See its privacy policy.

These providers handle data under their own terms and privacy policies, for the specific request being made; we do not control or have visibility into their infrastructure beyond the response we receive.

Children's privacy

VastraIQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app collects no account information from anyone, there is no personal profile of any user, child or adult, to speak of.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Since the app doesn't collect contact information from you, we're not able to notify you directly — check back here if you'd like to review the current version.
